Shure SM-58... it's pretty much the most used vocal mic out there... especially for live performances. there may be some other studio mics out there that are much better... but for the price you can't go wrong really... especially since you know it's going to sound good live and you won't have to worry so much about breaking a 500+ dollar studio mic. It's pretty versatile. A good investment...
