I have an acoustic guitar and the pull-offs don't seem to work that well on my guitar. The pull-off on this page: http://www.guitartricks.com/lesson.php?input=9031&s_id=122&prev_id=9030 didn't work at all! Is it because I have an acoustic?

Thanks.

Probably contributing to the problem yeah. You have to be a little more heavy handed when trying to do hammer-ons and pull-offs on an acoustic. Just keep practicing 'em you'll get it down, then when (and if) you move to an electric it'll be alot easier.

hey... that's my lesson :)

It should work on acoustic too. It's just a matter of building up your finger strength. Pluck the first note, then pull down with your finger and it should sound the second note.

Just keep in mind that this kinda stuff isn't meant to be learned overnight.
It takes hours of practice.... then ya need to rest a coupla days... then spend another coupla hours at it....

Just be patient... you'll get it.

:) At first it's hard to get the pull-off technique down on acoustic. Just repeat hammer-on then pull-off a few minutes everytime you practice. This will build strength in your fingers. Good luck!

Yeah, hammer-ons don't seem to work that well on the acoustic either on the high first string notes, they just seem to mute. If only I had an electric :(

Oh okay, now i see. I didn't go to the last page and didn't relize your acctualy suppossed to kinda pluck it with you pinky when you pull off. Much easier now, I got it first try! :D

*Just a suggestion Schmange. Maybe you should put the
Just remember to press the strings down firmly and when you do the pull-off, pull down solidly with your pinky so that you are basically plucking the string with your left hand.
part of you're Smashing Pumpkins - Today lesson on the 2nd page that teaches you how to do the pull-offs.

Thanks and great lesson
