Nicely done :)
Just curious but are you doing all the instruments yourself?
If so, even better.
Not a lot of negative things to say although I'll add a few since hey... that's how ya learn right...
First of all, interesting changes and stuff to keep you interested...
my first feeling is I'd like to hear the lead parts cutting into the mix a little more... it might be my mix right now cause my main monitors are blown, but using my Senheiser headphones I keep feeling like I wish everything was more powerful.
I like your vocals... the mix is pretty good but like I said, it's hard to tell with my stupid headphones....song wise... my general feeling is mediocre.
Not taking away anything from your writing or anything but after listening to about half a tune, I feel like shutting it off and moving on to the next one.
You've got amazing ideas and the changes are interesting, but every once in awhile my 'corny' meter kinda kicks in... in other words... stuff I've heard bands do a million times before could be greatly improved upon by amping up the guitar leads and making them more melodic. Hard to describe but I like listening to your stuff.... but when it gets to the leads I kinda go.... 'hmmm typical scale stuff'. However, the vocals come back in and I hear some cool changes and it kinda makes up for it.
I'm not cutting your stuff up btw:... quite the opposite, I'm pretty impressed with what you've done. I get the feeling that you've converted these to MP3 at 128kbps which greatly screws up the sound.
The type of dynamics you're trying to convey would sound much better at 320kbps.
I'd also look at investing in some good mastering equipment.
The guys who did this seem pretty good, but everything is compressed so much, there's no dynamics.
