I've seen movies like "Crossroads" No, not the stupid Britney Spears movie...the one with Ralph Macchio(the Karate Kid). And it has some of the most convincing guitar playing seens I've ever seen! Mostly because it had Ry Cooder and Steve Vai playing for him. And then there's "Billy and Teds Excellent Adventure", admit it, you've seen it! Steve Vai wrote the theme song to it, and did the Scene at the end when George Carlin is shredding up van halen style. And I was wondering if there are any other movies that have good guitar scenes in them. I'm just kinda curious. I dont think there are that many, but it never hurts to ask!

Ha, my signature always says something retarded, but I've since the beginning of my membership it's included PARTY ON GARTH.

And don't forget Waynes World 2. Or School of Rock. Amazing flick.

I forget which one, but at the end of Back to the Future, when Marty ( Michael j. Fox) plays Johnny B. Goode. Btw, didn't Vai do most of the guitar work in Bill & Teds?

No.... but speaking of that. I have heard that Floating around P2P programs. That they have a clip from Crossroads entitled "Steve Vai and Stevie Ray Vaughan Guitar Duel"

So if anybody here reading this... Sees it on a P2P program(which I'm not endorsing Btw :)) .

Please note that it is not SRV and Vai having a duel. Rather Steve Vai and The Karate Kid ;)

Stevie ray vaughan was in NO way affiliated (associated) with that movie at all. It had Ry Cooder and Steve vai playing. And The karate kid was fake playing. very good fake playing i might add...Tons of people always ask, "is he for real?". No.

I've seen all of those movies, they're great, crossroads is amazing, if you get elusive light and sound from steve vai it has all his movie songs, from crossroads, bill and ted, and some other movie i forget what its called, check it out its pretty sweet
If there's one thing I've learned, it's that life is one crushing defeat after another until you just wish Flanders was dead.

Rock stars ... is there anything they don't know?

I can't believe nobody found this out...but I was a huge Van Halen geek in High School....

In Back to the Future...when Marty is wearing that yellow space suit and places the headphones on his teenage father while he was sleeping, it was an untitled track created by Eddie Van Halen. I know that there is no guitars or guitar playing in that scene...but still, it was classic...too bad that's the only way it can be heard (it wasn't on the soundtrack).

I'm pretty sure that Tape had "Eruption" on it, and was either a mix or Van Halen I.

Non-guitar players might say "The Crow", but I wouldn't. Nothing impressive playing wise there, but I guess it fit the movie.

On a somewhat related note, there's a movie called "The Red Violin" which has some awesome playing there. Sure it's not a guitar, but seeing that movie made me wish I could play my guitar at the same level they played those strings. Pretty good movie too...a violin maker puts all his love and effort into one particular last instrument, and every player who inherits it throughout history displays skill like they're possessed. I saw it years ago, and it might even be subtitled in parts (I don't remember), but it's an independent, like a Sundance movie or something.

Slightly not as guitar centred are a few great rock and roll films:

Rock Star is awesome (based losely on Tim "Ripper" Owens who fronted a Judest Priest tribute band, then replaced Halford in the real thing...he now plays with Iced Earth if I am correct).

Almost Famous is just awesome...a really quick guitar scene in which Billy Crudup plays a very brief lick starting his solo in Fever Dog...still love that song...or atleast what I have heard of it on the film...pitty its pretty much a Zepplin knockoff.

and surprisingly unmentioned...This Is Spinal Tap...
