While on my suspension I recorded a new "metal" riff/song/thingamajig. Not great sound quality. Solo is a little messed up. Yeah, Ive got a list of excuses why it sucks, but Ill share it anyways out of boredome.

The new one is Animal Soup.

Rock on, Stack! That was some nice metal. The riff was well-structured; the solo had a timing glitch or two, but was tasteful in essence. I don't know whether it was my crummy speakers or not, but it sounded a bit muddy. Not to worry - if you ever turn it into a full-length track, it's sure to kick a**!

Thank you. It probably was muddy and my recording stuff sucks. Not to mention, I seem to psyche myself out when recording and my fingers dont do what I want them to. Then I get impatient and say screw it.

Well, it was a better-quality recording than Megadeth's first four albums - for whatever that's worth...

Funny you should bring up Megadeth, cuz that riff was sort of inspired by "Tornado of Souls."

The shred licks you use are the EXACT licks I played when I first started to using a pick! Like, with the pedal tone. Where you go, root over and over and while your tremolo picking the root you go 4 3 2 3 4 3 2 3 above it.

You can easily be both... :D

Ya, the quality was bad, but that's not your fault. The playing was cool. Kind of crushing. You play that one in your thrash band?

Well, I dont start that band til after I get out of school, but we'll see. I think its kind of a cool riff. Dont know if its exactly thrash. Kind of more Metallica/Megadeth'ish if you ask me.

I guess Stack is talking about contemporary thrash, like Lamb of God etc. As far as I'm concerned, though, Megadeth will always be the kings of thrash!

Id consider something like Testament thrash. Metallica, Megadeth, thrash? Not in my opinion, but Ive been wrong before.
