The POD's are great in my opinion... might as well go for the XT Live - that way you can use it live if you want, and I believe you can use the USB for home recording if that's your thing...

I'm a big POD fan! I've got a PODxt and a POD 2.0. I use them for all sorts of things in a variety of ways. If you plan on using it through a guitar amp, I prefer the POD 2.0, but if it will mainly be used for recording, or going straight to a PA I prefer the PODxt. Either way, they're both great pieces of gear.
