Yeah, it's difficult without seeing, but yes I've known strings to chew into metal bridges if the've been strung for a long time.
I would slacken off the first string and lift it out of the nut to see how far into the nut it has dropped ?
Also if you look at the neck from the side you might be able to spot what's going on
