I could just never get into the films that he directed. I can't take him seriously - he just strikes me as a middle-aged nerd turning his childhood daydreams into ridiculously overdone movies! I like him as an actor because his style is so incompetently camp, it's interesting to see how he expresses himself in front of the camera. And no, don't worry, I'm not going to study film. I mean, seriously - is somebody who likes Piper At the Gates of Dawn likely to have any taste in art whatsoever? ;)
