Then why stop at Blade Runner? Nearly every futuristic sci-fi movie is pretty much like that. Commerce takes over and the planet just becomes a barren wasteland of business run by machines. I dunno, I don't think you really have much to worry about, certainly not in any of our lifetimes anyway. And especially not with as many environmentalists as there are.
