I don't know much about him, but I think Juan Martin is a pretty respected flamenco player. Try looking him up.

Flamenco builds ALOT off of Phyrigan mode.
Take for instance a variation on Mediterrean Sundance by Al Di Meola.
E-2--2---2-3-5-3-2-----------2-3-5-3-2-----
B-3--3--------------2-3-5-3-2------------5-3
G-2--2----------------------------------------
D-4--4----------------------------------------
A-2--2----------------------------------------
E----------------------------------------------
The chords are strummed like a flamenco sound, you'll feel it. That repeats twice then there is more. But it sounds really cool.
