If you are halfway serious about recording you will grow out of the Boss machine very quickly. The specs are also quite shoddy.

Go with the Korg D1200 if you want a portable studio in a box. it will do 4 tracks simultaneous recording at 16 bit (or 2 at 24) and will play back 12 tracks simultaneously. It also has a USB 1 port (Ok for 3-4 min songs, slow for big projects) and loads of effects for mixing etc. The pre-amps are not that great (but OK) however I have been known to pay 3 or 4 times the price of a D1200 for one pre before now so waduyou expect for the money !!

You also get www.korgstudios.com thrown in for free !

Any questions give me a knock !
My instructors page and www.studiotrax.net for all things recording.
