for the past half a year or so, when ever i change my strings i go with a thicker gauge than the ones before, working my way up to the ZAKK WYLDE GHS boomers. so i finaly got a set and cut off the ball ends(i have a floyd rose trem) but when i tuned up the A and the E strings the winding, around the main string, ripped off and the strings popped out of the locking part of the bridge. what should i do? im so pissed right now but i was able to calm my self long enough to write this. see ya, im gonna go throw my TV out of a window.

That happens to me, too. Sometimes I go through two or three packs to get the thing strung up... and always end up with four or five spare strings in the extra packs I had to use. When I buy strings I have to buy them in threes because I know that one won't be enough to get it fully restrung once.

Is it true that if a string pops out like that, that it's ruined and you have to bust open another pack? Or can I stick it back in and try again? Maybe I'm missing something here.

I don't mess with Floyd Rose trems.... ever.... Mostly for that reason and the fact that most people that have FR trems don't even know how to use them properly anyway... I just stick to my good ol' strats.... I've never wasted a string while stringing her up... And I too use a set of ZW Boomers... They sound great for blues too, not just metal or hard rock.

Don't heavy guage strings put too much pressure on your floyd rose. I never use tremelo, too much trouble staying in tune. I think time is best spent developing other skills for getting a good sound from the guitar. Easy to buy
tremelo toys, easy to use .

If you are just upgrading to those strings because they are Wylde endorsed, I'd probaby stick with the smaller gauge.

i didnt get them because of the name, i just like realy thick gauge strings with the combination of the thinner unwound strings. and i know that they change the tension on the bridge but i know how to get it straight again.
