Ok i am new to electric. and know i am just going my feel and looks.

i like the feel and color of the, Squier® Black and Chrome Fat Strat Electric Guitar, http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/Guitar/Electric?sku=511944

but there are many thing i do not know. the price looks great. but most i just like the color. and what does the Fat mean in "Fat Strat" ???
does it have something to do with the
humbucking pickup (bridge) and two single coil pickups or is it a size thing?

Talk to me guys.

I readly like the black with chrome!!

Fat strat has nothing to do with size what so ever. all it means is that is has a humbucker. And I think if your serious about learning and you know for sure your not gonna get bored with the guitar, Spend the extra cash and get the Fender Standard Strat. Good starter and very easy to upgrade parts, Pickups, Tuners, etc.

Well in my opinion you dont have to start with something that could make u go bankrupt. Start of with something simple i recomend what my first guitar was, gregg bennett malibu mb-1, its a great quality guitar that works great. and even though it may be cheap in the right hands it'll blow you away. they arent a popular guitar either which will give u something different, somethin that no one else has.So in my opinion give a gregg bennett a shot!!!

I suggest a starter's pack. A lot of guitar companies put out starter's packs which include an electric guitar, a 15-watt amp, a strap, a gig bag, and some various other useful trinkets. Yamaha, Ibanez, Epiphone and B.C. Rich all make decent starter packs, although Squier and Ashton have them too, if you're looking for something cheaper.

First of all, It's a FENDER! They are so much better in quality than those cheap little squiers. The wood quality in squiers are like one step away from being plywood (yes i know it's alder). The quality in parts are also better, and better quality control. you can't compare squiers to fenders at all, fenders are better. Thought their are some really great upper end models from squier that rival cheap fenders. Don't forget though, The fender is the lowest end guitar they make so don't expect the greatest guitar ever.

in other words, squier is to fender as epiphone is to gibson.

but i know epiphone isnt a part of gibson, its just licensed to make their guitars.
is squier a part of fender or a different company like epiphone?

Epiphone is part of the "Gibson Family of Brands", whatever that means in terms of licencing and ownership. Same story for Squier in relation to Fender.

Yeah, like the Squier Jagmaster! I'd rather one of those than a Fender Jaguar or Jazzmaster any day.

Some squiers suck, some don't. The one I have is pretty damn good, but I've played some that are quite suck-tacular.

i dont think you're getting anywhere as many people have different opinions...i guess it boils down to yours... do a little research on the one u like... i had two friends who bought squier fat strats... the normal ones, not the chrome ones... they picked that as a starter guitar and i have tested it myself...i must say it sounded alright...

what about the parts? there are better pickup brands also?

I am just learning really It will probaby take me a while to decide on one.
it is there like some guidlines to stick to? or a buyers guid type a deal.

explaning the best wood types and such??

I am really stuck on the look of the black and chrome.

go to a music shop and test guitars. i personally dont like the idea of ordering one from the internet, guitars are so individual that you should test and really know what kind of guitar you are buying
