This may sound weird, but besides learning a few DT songs to up my chops, I prefer not to learn songs. Learning how the song is played puts the tune in a different light for me. When I hear a song I don't know how to play, I hear it as a cool melody, and as music. When I hear a song I can play, My brain just goes, you can play that, and I hear it completely different.
Maybe I'm just messed up.
