its not a problem of budget per say (yea i know i spelled that wrong), its a problem about what features are necesseties. It seems that the lower the price of the product, the vaguer the description. Im just lookin for the equivilant of a cassette recorder that can be transferred onto a computer. as far as money, maybe up to 500 or so. im not really sure.

Zoom sux. Check out this. http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/Guitar/Recording/Gear?sku=242149

You will need a cable that is rca to 1/8 stereo then you can hook it to your soundcard.

i dont know. if i go with a cassette recorder, itll probably be cheap so i can compensate with other equipment. zoom might suck, but its digital and cheaper.

Check out a Tascam US428 - usb recording device. Go digital, it's far more flexible. Good thing about the US428 is that you can hook it up to Cubase and where you can directly affect the faders etc.... no more trying to turn tiny on screen dials with the mouse. Will probably set you back about $250 then another $200 or so for Cubase LE or Cubase VST.

If you're settled on the ZOOM then why bother asking what other people think you should buy? Good luck man!

I have currently spent $8 on recording to date. The $8 went towards buying a cable to connect my amp to my soundcard.
I got a 'free' copy of cool edit pro 2.0 and I've been using it ever since to create pretty fine recordings for the money I've spent.
I'm such a cheapskate, I just don't see myself spending thousands on home recording stuff, when I can create pretty much anything I want to for next to no money.
All you need is a guitar, an amp and a soundcard and then go find a program like cool edit pro (it's discontinued now, or so I believe)
Miracle Blade 4: Gibs on touch.
