When you buy your new pups, they will come with schematics that show all the different way to hook them up. Just follow those and you should be fine. Knowing how to solder beforehand is a must. So if you can follow the schems and can solder descently you're good to go.

You shouldn't feel dumb for not knowing how to change your pickups. :)
You go outside and practice screaming. We'll play music while you're gone.

CHECK THIS OUT. IT SHOWS YOU EXACTLY HOW TO DO IT ON A LES PAUL STYLE GUITAR, WHICH WILL BE THE SAME FOR AN SG.

I would suggest taking it in to a guitar shop and getting them replaced... Especially if you don't know much about soldering, grounding, scematics, and basic electronics...
