I just snapped a string on my acoustic guitar. I really want to keep playing, but I can't use my electric, because my Dad's asleep, and his bedroom is right next door to the room where I play!

So... does anyone know any pieces that can be played without a D string? :D

owch, tough luck.

thats why you need to always have an extra pack around. or at least keep the set you changed for your current one, just in case.

Or turn the volume down.

Or, you know, don't plug it in. That way it's even quieter than an acoustic.

Yeah, I never plug in my electric, unless it's necessary to be heard. Meaning, only when I'm playing with other people, or occasionally if I want a bunch of distortion and junk, if I'm in that mood. Sometimes when I've learned a song I want to plug in and hear it the way it's meant to be. But I do the vast majority of my playing on an unplugged electric.
You go outside and practice screaming. We'll play music while you're gone.

See, I'm just the opposite. If I'm playing an electric, then 90% of the time I'm gonna want to plug it in, unless I'm just strumming to strum around. But in times of practice and playing for extended periods of time I always plug it in. Just doesn't feel right not to.

Ah, well, I'll play unplugged if he decides to have a nap again this afternoon - and if I snap a string on my electric, THEN I will be seriously pissed off!

But he can't hear an acoustic? The thing about an electric is that you can make them quieter than an acoustic, but I guess if you're going to go that low then you might as well just play unplugged.

Don't ask me how my Dad's hearing works, it's pretty screwed up... I think he prefers me to play my acoustic, so he decides that he can't hear it when he's asleep!
