Hey people I have a question. I recently changed all of my guitar strings because one of them broke and whipped my finger(it really hurt) and when I tune them my tuner says it's at a good tone but they rattle and dont sound the same when I play familiar songs, Whats up?

Please help
I swallowed my pride I swallowed my doubt,
let me stop there. :eek:

That's just "new string sound." Once they're broken in, they'll sound good again.

I actually like that sound, but earthman is right.

hmm. i dont call it planky planky.

but some people like it like that. (ala... ericthecableguy :D ) my friends in some thrash band and his strings always are slapping all over the place like rubber bands.

but give it a few weeks of playing. keep in mind that strings are never at their best when you just put em on. they go out of tune, dont give you the right tone, dont bend as easy, etc.

also, if the buzzing and slapping doesnt subside after awile, you may want to loosen all the strings and raise the bridge up a bit. (to raise the string height)

I don't mind the sound of new strings, I just hate how they feel when playing them.

I also promise your strings will sound better if you never play emo. Trust me, it's just bad luck.

I like them, it means it's that much longer before I have to buy new ones.

My guitars are always set up with new strings, so everything is just right when the strings are new. As they get skanky, the playability starts to suffer, along with the tone, so I swap 'em out pronto.
