Guitar Strap Pins??
I bought a $10.00 acoustic guitar from a friend (1 week ago) so I could learn how to play but it has no provisions for a strap. Do I have to drill it or is there such a thing like a glue on pins or something else I could buy or make? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks :)

The best thing to do would be to drill some in for now. If you start to get into guitar, I would invest in a new guitar.

You'd probably only need a peg for the bottom of the guitar. Most acoustics that I've seen don't have a peg at the top, instead there's a specific type of strap that goes with acoustic guitars that wraps around the base of the head stock.

Yeah, I just need a peg for the bottom. You think I could get some of the heavy duty 3M double stick tape and stick it to the bottom.

I wouldn't try the Tape thing, go to your local music store and buy the peg it comes with a screw and you will just have to scew it in, even by hand with a screw driver would work. Acoustics use a different stap and they cost more too they tie up at the head stock as said before in this post, I have used an elictric strap before and put a shoe string on it to tie it up at the head.

yup, thats what i'd do.
or get the local guitar shop tech to do it. if your scared of messing anything up. but for 10 bucks, i dont think it would hurt too much.
and a definate no of the tape. in theory, i guess it would work. but you couldnt move around at all or anything for it to fall off. and plus, it will kill the finish of the guitar majorly. its just nasty to work with after awile.

Your right 10 Bucks I can't go wrong any tips or words of advice on how to go about drilling it. How thick is the guitar 1/8"?? :)
I'm sorry about all the dumb questions. I just want to know the easiest way to go about this Brfoe I get crazy and do something I might regret later, Like ruining a perfectly good guitar ;)

10 bucks for a guitar! is it nylon or steel string? for $10 its probably has nylon strings. if your just starting to learn, you probably dont even need a strap. just learn to play and buy a NEW electric (or acoustic), which will already have both pins. or for the new acoustic, thats worth having a second pin, you can pay a pro to put one in for you.

Yep! It's a nylon string. I was just wondering about the pins. you know looking for a easy inexpensive option since I oly paid $10 for the guitar. Oh & I'm making my own guitar case for it. I let you know how it came out. :)

hmm yeah, most nylon classical guitars dont have a strap anyways. they arnt ment to be strummed, rather to just sit down and play some pretty little tune.
i like classical guitars, never had one tho.

if it is a classical nylon string don't try to screw ina strap button. it will tear a hole in the wood at the tail. Instead, go down to you local music shop and tell them you need a classical strap. i actually will attach to the soundhole and start at around 5 bucks.
Good luck with the playing man!!
