squier afinity strat

anyne have any ideas on how this model is like? could it be good begginer's guitar? im asking for a friend here...cheers

All I can say is that the Squier Affinity Strat was my(along with alot of other people's) first guitar.

And I am glad I had it to learn on. Even now as it sits in my room, and even though I never play it anymore. I still remember all the memories I had with it. As I ponder back a couple of years, I still remember the smile on my face when I finally learn how to play "Layla", And I had alot of good times with my old red Squier.

But anyway back to your question :), All I have to say is that there are alot of begginer's Strat style guitar out there, but IMO The Squier is the Closest thing you're gonna get,( C'mon it's made by frickin FENDER!!!!).

Btw, I don't work for Fender or am getting payed to Endorse them :cool:

but the guitar holds a special place in my heart, So I have nothing bad to say about it.

P.S if your friend like to play harder stuff you could look into a Epiphone LP Special(for about the same price) or a Squier Strat with a Humbucker ;)

Yeah, that is probably a good first guitar, my brother has one and it seems to be alright, but for about the same price I got a used guitar with humbuckers that sounds far better and, in my opinion, is much better and more comfortable to play. So look around, don't just pick one model and say "that's what I'm going to get" before you try some out and see what you like, and look for some deals.

i guess its a good beginner guitar. but your doing a gamble with a squire. not all of them are made equal. some people will get a good one (like Rsam) but some others will get a real crappy one. my friend bought one and the middle pickup like fell out of its pup cover and it goes out of tune like anything. and the wammy bar doesnt work like at alll on the affinity.

overall, i would save and get something of a higher quality that will last you for awile without having to buy another one somewhere down the road.

i'd check out Agile .

I know what you mean, I know someone who has a same year Sqiuer as mine.But the Lead pickup dosen't work so Yeah It's all up to whether you like it before you buy. Remember if the guitar feels right when you play it then it is worth it. IMO

Btw rockonn91 that is about the 15,000th time you suggested Agile :p :D

You ever try a Stage Classic strat knock-off? Those things are AWFUL.

In Sound quality yes, but overall no way. Like I said before, nothing comes closer Overall to a Fender than a Squier(duh same Company :p ). And that's all there is to it.

P.S. I'm not trying to be arrogant or anything, I agree there are alot of Better strat copies out there. But I think there is something authentic about Squier Strats :)

hmm...it doesnt sound too promising...ifnot, what wudu guys recommend as a good begginer guitar for my friend...he has alittle experience a long time ago..he's aware of a couple of chords but still unsure...

I have the Squier Afinity strat and have been playing it for the past 7 years, been happy with it for $150 bucks it cost. Only thing is the single coil buzz you get, might look at a Dean EVO XM it goes for about $99.00 and has Humbuckers.

Look man, I know you don't like Squiers and thats cool and all but you got to remember, For many begginers who can't afford a real Fender Strat, having a Squier that says Fender on the headstock is something special.

Because as we all know, when people in the General Public(i.e non guitar players) think of an Electric Guitar guitar what do they think??? FENDER!!!!!!!

Anyway enough talk about Squiers and Fender for me. :cool:

These days, about the only thing the name on the headstock means, is how much it's gonna cost you.

Gear should be auditioned with mind & ears open, and eyes closed!

A buddy didn't want to risk his LP Custom on gigs, so he bought an Agile, figuring that even if somebody stole it, he was only out a couple hundred bucks. When it arrived, he was shocked by how good the construction, fit, and finish is. He may eventually swap out the pups and controls, but suddenly his LP doesn't seem so damn special anymore. Especially at 10 times the price of his new Agile.
