I finally got myself a propper desk for my setup, and finally got moved into my music/studio room. Now all I have left is some straightening up to do, and I have to do something about that horrid green carpet :D

Yes, I do, but it is in the other room. I now have several wall hangers for my guitars, but haven't got around to installing them yet

That rigg is just soooo heavenly, i wouldnt know where to start but...(ok id start with the LP....lol)

I use;

Epiphone Les Paul all stock as of yet (a goodie!!)
Casio CTK-650 midi Keyboard
Tascam Porta02 (as a input mixer)
Cubase SX3 (steinberg have finally delivered imo!)
Native Instruments Guitar rigg 2
Halion Sampler keyboard thingy (w/ violin&cello and drum samples)
Edirol HQ Orchestra (awesome)
Absynth 3

Plus tons of free plugins....some are exellent!!

Plus i gotta zoom 3000 multi fx (its crap! so i dont use it for recording, exept for 'live' practicing playing, too much latency on my P.C for live guitar sim's
:(

On my list is a D.I box or maybe a full on Podxt thingy,
and a new amp either a Line6 spider, Vox Valvetronix or a peavey classic 30..

Guess what I'm saying is that you don't need a whole load of crap to do recordings. These days, you can record 128 tracks using just your computer.
It doesn't even have to be the latest greatest thing on the market either...
my G3 is 9 years old and the only update I did was add a G4 CPU and increase the ram to 768mb.

AGREED, I have to laugh, I have seen this type of thread pop up before here, and before I get on my soap box, this is nothing personal about "Dr Simon". Rule one, doesn't matter what you have, its the skill and work that you put into it. Sure sweet pre's, mics, and and nice compressors can help but dont be discouraged if all you have is a computer with Traction or an MBOX. You may have to be more imaginative but you can make great recordings.

I had a commercial Pro Tools HD2 studio, quite a few mics and all kinds of fancy outboard gear, but guess what, when someone doesnt know what they are doing it still sounds like crap. I sold all that stuff 1.5 years ago, I know have a Toneport UX2, Tracktion, Reason and a few mics, since I have some skill I can still make stuff sound really good.

Point to my babbling, dont be intimidated but pictures, just work on your recording knowledge and skills. Matter of fact Dr Simon is a really good source of information.

I would just hate to have people discouraged, recording is a fantastic past time and career.

Peace,
Howard

I'd still kill for Doc Simon's setup wether I knew what to do with it yet or not. I do get by rather nicely with my Roland though.

I still have all the same gear but I got a new desk. I almost bought the same desk PRS has but they were out of them. I ended up with this one and I like it alot.

I am a constant evolving music machine. Oh Man, I just forgot what I was playing. Oh well, on to the next song.
