Well no not really. I don't just want to record two tracks at a time...hence the setup !

I want 20+ simultaneous ins at 24/96 for recording bands / orchestras / stage productions with real drum kits and real instruments. If people want to then overdub really detailed stuff like critical vocals then they can come to my place and overdub using the Avalon or the Focusrite with a LDC.

This affords much more flexibility in terms of what I can do. And if I need portability I can pack up the desk and an MOTU interface or two, pick up my mic locker and powerbook and go record outside via firewire !
