What do you think about the Hal Leonard 'method' for beginners, and what do you think about the web site, www.iplaymusic.com, for beginners?
But my more urgent question is, how long does it take to build calluses? The tips of my fingers are kill'n me!

If you play daily for at least an hour, it should take a good week and a half. I'm not familiar with that site, but I highly recommend the Esteban guitar dvd's he has out. They are really good at gave me a big jump into the guitar.

thanks, I'll look up the Esteban DVD's

I'm a little discouraged with the fingertips, but a week and a half gives me hope.

Which beginning videos on this site do you recommend? So far, the site seems a bit confusing as to which of the 150 videos are free. I have a sixteen month old daughter and right now I really want to pluck out a few songs for her. (Eventually, I hope to play for me, maybe a little Coldplay if I'm lucky.)

In each section, you'll see two lessons at the top of the page. Those are your free lessons. 2 per section, meaning there is about 75 sections so that's your 150 free.

I didn't learn that until I became a bandwidth user.

The Hal Leonard Method is great for learning to read music and learning to play individual notes in the melody.
