The doctor will tell you what you don't want to hear. I have some joint problems in both wrists but I was never officially diagnosed with anything. In fact all tests were inconclusive. If I apply pressure just so, my left wrist will crack like if you are breaking syrofoam. He said there is something wrong (it hurts constantly) but I should go to a doctor another town over to get it checked out by a hand doctor since the MRI and X-Rays showed nothing. I couldn't miss another day of work/school just to have that doctor say nothing is wrong that we can see but we hear it is wrong. So I put it off, then Katrina destroyed his off so that's out.

Your doctor is your best bet. He will help better than anyone here could. Also, consult him before doing any methods. I periodically crack my wrists in order to make the pressure build up go away, and the doc said to do that sparingly.

You'll need way more than 2 weeks rest to get any benefit.

Also, before you give up, consider adjusting your style (a lot). If I read your e-name correctly, you'll be trying to play fast and aggressively. Give up the thrash and play rhythm in a blues band or swing band or summat. Or - what I did - get yourself an Ashbory bass. Try the saxophone. Sing.

You are a musician not a mere guitarist.

A friend of mine had surgery for carpel tunnel, but was also offered loads of physio. Might be worth looking at that as a way to increase mobility?

A friend of mine had an operation - his hand was painfull and numb
the bone in his hand had grown around an artery and restricted the blood flow. fairly straightforward OP i'm sure.
