Another lovely axe to consider especially for rock guitar would be an Ibanez Jem (Vai series)... can't find a fault with these guitars at all, exxcellent for fast lead work.

Or as mentioned by other a Gibson... the Historic Goldtop '57 reissue got amazing reviews and I just added one to my growing collection. Beautiful piece of gear.
