yes, what kind of guitar is the old one? if it is older than 35 years, it becomes vintage, and there is a very good chance you may want to keep it...you may be sitting on a goldmine there, depending on the brand, model, condition and finish.

also, if its a nice vintage electric, its probably a whole lot nicer than any guitar you'll get for 150$.
