I'm not bothered by any amount of gore or violence, but I don't see any point in watching a violent movie just for the sake of violence. If there's no respectable character or plot development in a movie (or even a few awesome action scenes) I don't consider it worth my time.

I have a suspicion that the more physical pain someone has actually felt the less likely they are to be bothered by watching other people get messed up.
