I hate to be the one to sound like an ass. But, does anybody use the Search function? Do you know how many threads there are about-what kind of pickups should I get? It's crazy! Seriously though, you should go to your guitar shop and play different guitars with different pickups so you can hear the tone with your own ear. There is no way that someone else can honestly tell you what pickup is best for you. I like the EMG 81/85 set. Other people like P-90's, some folks like burstbuckers. It's all personal preferance. Also, some of the websites will have soundclips of what their pickups sound like. I know EMG does. Try that route too.
I am a constant evolving music machine. Oh Man, I just forgot what I was playing. Oh well, on to the next song.

I have EMG 81/85's in my Ibanez Prestige, nice sound but I think they work better in a Les Paul style guitar with the multi pickup toggles. Dimarzio's are the recommended pups for Ibanez... Evolutions are very nice as are Breeds (both are Vai pups). I have Breeds in my Jem and they are amazing but are defeinitely squared for guitarists that play mostly lead. Another choice would be the Paf Pro and/or Tone Zone combined or coupled with an Air Norton. There are plenty of combos listed out on the Dimarzio website.
