Playing your guitar through a 100-watt bass amp? This was briefly talked about in another thread, but I wanted this thread to solely focus on this issue.

My specific question goes out to people who own Fenders/Squiers or ESPs/LTDs and was wondering which one sounded better through a bass combo amp.

Thanks, feel free to share your comments!

i own a Fender showmaster. i play it through a bassman amp sometimes. you can get some really nice sounds with it. You can get almost an acoustic sound i like using it with spanish type latin songs.

I currently own a Yorkville BassMaster XM100C and I'll be buying either a Squier or an LTD, so I just want to check it out with musicians who've actually played with one.Trying to look for a punk/heavy sound with bass, because I don't think I will use a bassplayer.

Ltd amps are edgeing torwards metal so that would probably get you the sound you want more than a squier which is most designed for all around

Well, I'm not a big fan of metal, but that kind of heavy sound. Most of the bands that have attractive melodies are like Boxcar Racer and Bloc Party.

just playing through a bass amp doesnt automatically mean your going to be a metalhead.

when someone else is using my amp, i'll usually steal the bass players amp. i love it because you can do all the low notes etc without it sounding muddy at all. and high notes still sound fine- i actually like the sound of high notes better on a bass amp then on a guitar amp, just because its alot more mellow. (which suits my style and taste) feeding distortion and all them other effects is also fun stuff.

My first 'real' amp was a Traynor YBA-1 Bassmaster. At the time, a lot of players were using Fender Bassman amps. The old Ampeg V-series guitar amps that I use now are pretty much identical to the V-series bass amps of the same period. The SVT amps that The Rolling Stones toured with were bass amps. Guitars and bass amps work well together. Always have.

Yeah, I'm using my bass amp, but I'm more curious about the guitar. LTD's and Squier's are pretty different as in the style. They don't even play the same music.

I either spend $287.99 CAD on an EC-50

or

a Squier '51 Tele $199.99 CAD.

I like that really distorted and heavy sound though. I don't know if I am using the right words to describe the sound I like because I am relatively new to electric guitar. I like the sound kind of rough, but also would like some clean-ness as in no distortion.
