i am having a hard time in muting,, i mean i hear noise after my finger leaves the string, is the a problem in the way i pick or sweep?. should i mute it using my picking hand or the other hand. "dont say left or right hand, u'll confuse me casue i am left handed ".

If you're muting with the other hand (ie. the hand you have on the fretboard), and you're still getting a ringing noise when you play the chord, you might find that you are inadvertently depressing one of the higher strings with the base of your finger (I usually have this problem when I'm playing barre chords in quick succession). Make sure your fingers are as straight as possible against the strings, then try strumming the muted chord, progressively adjusting the pressure on the strings until you attain the ideal muted sound.

if thats not the problem then (with your fretting hand,) use only the tips of your fingers, and you can also (with your picking hand) make the wrist/palm of the hand touch the strings when you hit a string, and that way you will mute all the strings every time you play a string.
