that's not metal, it's nu-metal, which was already previously stated as being crap. real metal is not crap.. some examples of real metal (and these are just some of my favorites) are some bands like: lamb of god, arch enemy, children of bodom, as I lay dying, haste the day, norma jean, and cradle of filth (though they may be too popularized with todays wanna-be goth kids, there is no doubting the muscial talent, at least with their older stuff, I haven't heard much of their newer stuff) look into some of those bands if you wanna hear some good metal.

btw, who said screaming isn't music? actually, 99% of the time with metal bands, the lead singer who is doing the screaming can actually sing very well normally as well. this is because it does take talent and musical ability to scream.. because though they are screaming, they are screaming in key.

I thought you said you were going to show some examples of metal.

I've never thought of AC\DC as a metal band myself. I think they fall under the good old Rock-N-Roll category. Metal to me is more like Iron Maiden, Metallica (ten years ago), Megadeth, Pantera........ ;)
I am a constant evolving music machine. Oh Man, I just forgot what I was playing. Oh well, on to the next song.

By the law of my brethren I am forbidden to speak of such things so that I might help keep the sacredness of true metal forever untainted by those who infect.

In otherwords, I hold a very opinionated view on what makes real metal REAL metal and it's not something that can be readily answered. I do know that I had a kind of epiphany when I discovered what I hold today as metal and since then I've hated thoughts of people walking around saying crap like "I listen to black metal like Dimmyoo Borjeer and Cradle of Filth" while drawing a blank when you approach them with real black metal bands. Since I'm pointing fingers at bands, Children of Bodom used to be good, but lately they've been so watered down that it's a complete waste of talent in the group. But it's ok, so long as they're busy pleasing the mass of musical idiots in the world, so who cares? It's not like anyone actually cares about musical value. Speaking of musical value. I'm completely disgusted by Michael Amott. A man who was once part of one of the greatest death metal bands ever is now busy screwing around in Arch Enemy. The band has plenty of talent inside of the circle, now if only they could break up and go do something that requires that talent. Since I"m on the topic of things that require talent. I don't know what you call Lamb of God, but I call it wussified crap. I don't know what it is that everyone sees in them.

So here I am, having just criticized everyone that you've just suggested as metal and I'm posed with the opportunity to clarify my opinion of what metal is. Having also stated that I treat it in a fashion that's not unlike a cult follower, I shall step down and refrain from dispersing names, not because I fear being wrong (I've already stated that I'm opinionated about this), but because I hold metal high and am not ready to take it all in vain just to prove a point.

That ought to start a ruckus... sorry guys. I'm a dick. Oh, and it was probably chucklivesoninmyheart that suggested Necrophagist to you.

Nightwish does their fair share of it, as does Symphony X.

When the Woman isn't singing, this guy will do this yelly gruff voice. Yeah, I guess rough voice is a better description for Symphony X, but meh.

Haha, good band though, I like Over the Hills and Far Away, even though they should probably have thought of another title, and the lyrics are lame.
