perhaps you are just not listening to the "right" metal. nu-metal? yeah, that's crap.. black metal? (which is what I think you are referring to) ehh, some of it's pretty good, but yes there is some crap mixed in with the good. any other type of metal? pretty much the most technically difficult style of music to play, next to classical, though alot of it is actually inspired by classical music.

throw in a children of bodom cd, then you try to play it... then tell me it's crap!


though I can that from a drum players perspective, you would find it to be crap.. alot of double bass pedalling and what not.. but if you listen to a variety of metal, you would find that there are actually alot of songs that would be challenging for a drummer too, including ones that use odd time signatures.. rather then your plain old plain old 4/4 like you get all the fricken time..
