Are you using the them infront of the amp, or in the effects loop? Reverb generally sounds pretty bad if placed between your guitar and the amp, but delay can sound good in both places. It will have a different sound in both places though.

i'm not sure of what your exactly saying for these are the first effects i've bought and used (i've strictly been playing an acoustic for the past two years), but i have it set up as guitar to reverb to delay to amp. is this correct?

What amp are you using? Does the amp have an effects send and return jack? If so, try connecting the effects send to the input of the reverb pedal, and then connect the output of the reverb pedal to the effects return jack. If you want, you can also try the delay infront of the reverb pedal in the effects loop.
By infront of the amp I mean going from your guitar to the pedals then from the pedals to the input of the amp. If they're in the effects loop, your guitar will go straight to the amp, and the effects send will go to the input of the first pedal (delay in your case), from it to the input of the second pedal (reverb) and it's output will be connected to the amps effects return. Both way's will give you different tones. You'll just have to play around with them to see what you like best.

listen to mogwai for great use of delay. i dont like coldplay myself but listening to them might be a good idea so you can see what delay does to simple lead lines. it is very u2 influenced though

Just as a simple starter on delay..
Short delay time plus minimal repeats = Rockabilly slapback echo
Medium delay time + minimal repeats = Reverb sound
Medium delay + increased repeats = Edge sound also good for DUB
Long delay + Minimal repeats = Large room echo
Long delay + Increased repeats = fun with arpeggios
This is just a real basic idea of what you can do, I've had my delay for about a year and a half and am still learning new tricks with it, don't be afraid to really tweak the knobs and experiment.
As far as both pedals..if you are running them both into the front end of your amp, I'd suggest delay THEN reverb....that way the delayed notes run through the reverb as well.
