wat's up everyone?
i seem to have a huge problem in my picking hand
the problem is like yesterday when i practises with a metronome
i did the 1-2-3-4 on all the sex strings on 115 bpm (16th note) easely
and i did it without stopping for almost 1 minute
but today when i picked my guitar i couldn't do it on 110
and that happens everyday to me and i don't think that the problem is from my fretting hand 'cuz it's really fast i can hammer-on and pull-off fast but my picking hand is the problem 'cuz it can't keep up with the fretting hand so any one have some advices or tips
to do 'cuz i'm really stuck please help yeah and there's one thing my
goal is to achieve 160 bpm on 1-2-3-4 (16th note)
thank u hope u understood me
see ya

what do you mean by sex string?..

anyway you're probably picking with your elbow, like swinging your arm. if you're not, sorry thats just the most common thing. use your wrist...

get heavy picks. if yu want to play fast you need heave picks.

if thats not it then you're probably hitting your strings too hard, try turning the volume up on your amp a lil bit more so you can hit the strings lightly and still hear a sound. you only need to hit the strings hard enough to make a sound. same goes for your fingers. you only need to put enough pressure to make a sound. thats usually just the weight of your fingers with little added pressure. practice evaluating your body. check your neck, chest, elbow, shoulders, knees, feet... for any discomfort and get in a comfortable position. then you wont feel as tired when playing.

do alternate picking if you're not. try to angle your pick a little bit if its stopping too hard when it hits a string.

my last advice is to practice and you'll get better. playing guitar is not an overnight success. joe satriani played for 15 hours a day with a metronome practicing his scales and modes and everything as fast as he can. and he still does today. just practice and your brain and muscles will get used to how they move and will "know" where to move next.

you're doing a good thing using a metronome keep it up. if that doesnt solve your problem i have more answers but i think this should solve it.

It sounds like he can't do what he did yesterday. It might be because you were more warmed up yesterday, so warm up before clocking yourself. Or it could be all in your head. Maybe you started badly and your confidence was lower than yesterday. But whatever, just some thoughts. Good luck to you!

OK now speaking from my own experience. Im an arm-picker myself. But i dnt find it bad or anything its just my preference. But can use my arm, wrist, and thumb for picking as well.

The problem thats troubling you is very natural. U must have practiced a lot, and so your fingers must have had a hangover. This usually happens to me if I keep on alternate picking fast for the whole day (about 11 hours). Then the next day I can hardly pick for 4 hours till my hand dies out. But then constant practice keeps building the endurance.

So keep practicing, and go with the day, and also make sure you push the limit of your picking a little, not too much, but a little everyday, and CONCENTRATE WHILE PICKING.

Sit in front of a mirror and practice, and look at your picking hand, IMO it will help you a lot....!!

funny thing is i only like playing my guitar at night and it pisses people off even when im using earphones. something about natural sunlight makes me feel like putting my guitar down.
