Ideas to torque a starter Washburn?

Finally bought a decent electric (Ibanez AF-75 Artcore) and now I have this starter Washburn sitting here. I hate to get rid of it, besides, no one would pay anything for it when they can get a new one cheap. So I thought I might like to try and jack it up a little bit. One problem though; I have no idea what to do or how to do it.

Any ideas?

I know I need new pickups and all that but I know very little about them or the differences or even what would work in this one. (It currently has these piezo-looking pickups on it)

Any suggestions welcome. BTW, I am a huge blues fan and gear my playing either towards blues or good ol' classic rock.
