I'm interested to know what everyone thinks about Matt Heafy from Trivium as a lead guitarist. The rock press is constantly harping on about how prodigious he is, but personally I think his style is a bit showy. What do you all think?
"It's all folk music... I ain't never heard no horse sing!"
- Attributed variously to Leadbelly and Louis Armstrong

If at first you don't succeed, you are obviously not Chuck Norris.

Personally, i love Trivium. But the better guitarist is Corey. He can really tear it up better than Matt.

Corey is a better lead guitarist, he can play some wicked solos, Matt is a good rythm player. I wouldnt say hes a whizkid but he does know what hes doing. Corey and Matt together make for a great duo of guitarists.
