I must admit, I tend to avoid places if I know there's going to be a DJ - mostly because my band's had to play the same venue with some very, very talentless no-hoper's who think turning down the volume every thirty seconds adds to the "atmosphere"...I guess I'm just a little bitter and twisted by past experiences...

In my experience, there's not an awful lot of guitarists who want to/are able to cross over into that sort of area - but, at the end of the day, if it interests you and you get a kick out of it, then there's nothing wrong with it. I just doubt how much of a useful response you'll get from this particular forum regarding your question...
