Okay, I had already made this thread twice, this time I accidentally deleted it. :-P Please excuse the simple minded fool (me) on this one. So for the third time . . .
I just got an acoustic guitar, now I want to get an electric guitar, but I have no idea what a good set up would be for learning on. Any ideas? I need a guitar that’s simple, durable and relatively inexpensive. And also a good amp. When I last made this thread someone pointed out that just saying relative didn’t really say much. So allow me to clarify, I need an overall set up less then around $500 US. So, what do you say? Any good ideas?

Get this amp and then find a good guitar for $300. There's too many axes in that price range so if you can go to a guitar store and try some out.

screw that amp. check this out:

yea just click on this already!

seems like the better deal to me.

also i cant tell you what guitar to get but click here and you can see a list of top rates six stringed-solid bodied guitars for $200-300. i really like these guitars.

for more options you can go to the top left and change around what you're looking for.

i also recommend you get 24-fretted guitars cause you're gonna want as little limitations as possible. (at least i do) so uh check here for the 24 fretted guitars. (be warned, some claim to have 24 frets but dont have that many. just count.)

ive owned 2 fenders and one drive wildfire guitar combo.

one was a squier strat and one was a normal strat.

i didnt like the wildfire much, but hey i didnt have to pay for it :)

just go for your instincts. see some videos of your favorite guitarists and their guitars, and try to get something with those ffeatures (in example, the single coil or humbucker pickups, tremolo, the company its from)

i know youre curius about the guitars we have but we all have different tastes so i wouldnt just choose a guitar because someone else has it.

The first guitar I bought for myself was an Epiphone Les Paul Special II. Not the greatest guitar but it was OK.
