When it comes to theory, I try to understand it as well as I can but it's all to the end that I want to write songs that are pleasing and sound good. When I hear a song and can immediately tell that it's good, without any theoretical analysis, I want to figure out why it is so.

I was pretty evenly matched for both. In either case, I understood the ideas well but had trouble applying them appropriately.
