http://www.univox.org/guitars/ here is a link, go down to the UC2 and then click on the UC 3. they have strat pickups, with a differnt kinda body.. waht do you think?

any help is appreacated, thanks!

I like the white one. I have a friend who has a Univox guitar. I don't know the model though, I'll have to check. Unfortunatly it's in a state of disrepair. The nut is destroyed and a knob or two is missing. He said he found it. If you think it's worth it go for it. I don't think ol' grampy would rip you off. Would he? Hell I know some clever old guys who wouldn't think twice. :D

ask him its age (like what year it was created) and take a close look. are there major dents, scuff marks, scratches?

i must know how old it is. also find out if they were discontinued.

also tell me what ibanez you have. ( yes, and the year, and condition )

also tell me if it is this:

if it is then its counterfeit

My friends looks well aged and I don't remember ever hearing much about them. These guitars might have value on rarity alone. I really wouldn't know. Could be worth looking into.

here is my ibanez. im shure the univox is discontinued. it said they were made back in the 60's. my ibanez is worth maby 200 bucks... i just dont want to end up with some POS ply wood guitar, thats not worth the strings that are on it. I play this guitar every time im down there, it kinda has a country sound playing clean. I never played it with distoration. Its got a awsome feeling neck, the 2nd fret is scoleped, and i belive there are a few more scoleped closer to the pickups (17 to 22 i belive).

sorry for the tripple post... :o

A lot will depend on what type of music you want to play. A few things to pay attention to... Is the intonation good? Does it stay intonated? How well does it stay in tune? Does everything work properly on it? Is there a lot of fret wear? Is the neck warped/twisted? Do all the notes fret clearly? What kind of shape is the nut in? Is there any rust or corrosion on any of the hardware? Does it sound and play well for your style of music? Finding out the answere to these question will greatly help you make your decision, and help us give you better advice.

You might want to make a pro's and con's list between the two guitars. I don't believe those guitars are worth very much, but I could be wrong. Usually, if a guitar has a decent value, you can find more info on it than what you can on the UC-3.

i say go for the univox. its alot more worth than your ibanez. go for it before something terrible happens to it. as long as you like it and its playable and sellable (which i wouldnt do cause its your grandfathers and id want to keep it). if it plays good and is in a good condition go for it!
