Hello mateys,

I've been playing the guitar for 5 or six years now. Can't read music and don't know anything about guitar theory. The only thing i know is what i like and what i want to do.

I need some help, because i rekon i've been stood at the foot of a brick wall for at least a year now. I need some help in learning scales that can allow me to utilise my fingers in the way i need in order to shred properly.

I usually listen to music and play by ear, but it's proper difficult to do anything about solos. I know all the rhythm guitar to Valley of the Damned and Sonic Firestorm by Dragonforce, but i can't do anything about the shred.

I'm currently trying to learn Evil Shred by Frankenshred, and there's absolutely no way i'm going to give up on it. What i rekon i need is a tab of the scales he's using, as i can't keep up with him, and my solo sounds ****e, because i don't know what notes to hit.

I know this post is all a bit confusing, but i'm incredibly frustrated over how i'm going to progress into a shredding machine after hitting this big ****ing wall.

If you can help me in any way at all, i'd be very appreciative of you.

Cheers,

Normski

It might help if you could point me in the direction of a site on the web where i might find some proper metal scales to practice. I'm sick of holding myself back, there has to be a way forward if i'm ever to be a **** hot as Dr. Frankenshred.

C  cheers

You gotta learn some theory to be good. I never wanted to learn theory at first but once I started It made a huge difference.
