Everyone will tell you about Gibsons quality. They're right. I have a gibson LP from '76. It is an excellent guitar. The PRS Customs are also very good guitars. If possible play as many different models before you decide. Any of them will be a hefty investment.

1) if you don't really have experience your voice doesn't get heard. just saying.

2) i have a LPC and it has become my number 1. The only thing you should do is swap out the stock tuners for Grovers. When they say "classic" they mean everything, the tuners suck. Goes out of tune after each song. Now that I've had my grovers on, I can tune once, maybe twice every set. Best $40 I ever spent.

3) the pickups are awesome, nothing I would change, the neck is nice and slim and very very nice and easy to play.

I recommend this guitar 100%.
