Which ENGL amp do you have? If it doesn't have quite enough gain for you, why don't you look into an overdrive pedal to push the gain channel a bit more. Something like an MXR ZW-44, Ibanez Tubescreamer, Boss SD-1, or DigiTech Bad Monkey. I use the MXR in front of a Peavey Classic 50's overdrive channel, and I can get some mean and nasty high gain tones out of it. It sure would be a lot cheaper than a new amp.
