The SG is a poorly-executed example of a bad design. The neck-body joint is so weak that this POS axe won't stay in tune, and threatens to self-destruct if it ever falls over. Walk away. The tone can be replicated by any mahogany guitar with decent pickups.
Strats are OK, but don't get caught up in the "America First" BS. The best Strat I've ever played was the 1986 Jap-Strat '62 Re-issue that I eventually sold to pay my rent. The trem sucked out most of the tone, but when I replaced it with a solid brass block and bolted the bridge down tight to the body, that lil' lady could sing! With better pickups and controls, that would have been a keeper.[/font]
