heyheyyy

alright, i have just now been informed i am wanted for a guitarist in a gig somewhere in april. theres gunna be about 500 or so people at this event, so its sort of important to do a good job, you know what im saying?

so im asking for some sweet covers that we could work on. keep in mind we have untill april to nail this, but i need it NAILED- i got my rep to worry about here.

but heres the katch- im wanted by a group of skids a year younger than me, and only the bass player has skills. and this kid is pretty sweet. he can play guitar good too.

so i would like some easy modern songs to do. songs that everyone knows and can sing along with, fun songs too. ive got everything up to the early 90's covered.

thanks guys :D

Weve been playing this for our covers, most are definitely easy to play but I guarantee you, the crowd always go crazy and they sing along.....Sorry for the BonJovi's :D ...I personally dont like playing it...but we do it for the crowd, and they love it hehe.

Aerosmith -------------------Crazy / Dont wanna miss a Thing
Bon Jovi----------------------Bed of Roses / In these arms / You give love a bad name
Van Halen ---------- --------Jump !
Pearl Jam ------------- ------Last Kiss/ Jeremy / Yellow ledbetter
Nirvana --------------------- Smells Like teen spirit / Lithium
Poison ---------------------- Your mama dont dance
Guns and Roses -------- -----Sweet Child O Mine/ Knockin on the heavens door
Stone Temple Pilots ---------- Plush
Metallica -------------------- Nothing Else Matters/ Enter Sandman
Led Zep ---------------------- Stairway to Heaven (ofcourse!)
Queen -------------------- ---Bohemian Rhapsody / We will rock you
Def Leppard ---------------- Two Steps Behind / Miss you in a heartbeat
Eric Clapton ----------------- Change the world
Bryan Adams ---------------- Heaven
Incubus ------------------------ Drive / Wish you were here / Pardon me
AudioSlave --------------------- Like A Stone
Bob Marley & The Wailers -------- No Woman, No Cry
Lifehouse ------------------- Hanging by a Moment
Beatles ----------------------- Day tripper / Come together
America ----------------------- I Need You
We just pick ten from any of those, And that satisfies the crowd. ;)

Bon Jovi - In These Arms -- wicked song! No need to apologize.

I'd sooner apologize for "Change the World" by Eric Clapton. Man, he needs to hire a songwriter, like, 20 years ago.
... and that's all I have to say about that.

why thank you fretfire, but thems some older songs. im playin for a bunch of middle schoolers here- they want their newer stuff. but we need like an hour of material, so we're gunna do a couple blues jams, im gunna try to get in a shred jam and we're gunna do some old stuff.

i hadnt thought of van halen's jump.... i love that song. we're doing it. :D

as well as sweet child o mine and come together- we really cant branch out much into the SWEET bands and songs cuz of these crazy skids with bad taste in music.

hmm, i know wish you were here... ill bring that up.

anyways thanks for your help- i have untill next week to find a huge list so i'll keep digging around. continued support would be much appreciated :p

Blink 182 and Sum 41 have some songs that are easy and the kids will love. So do Green Day. How about Outside by Staind?

greenday: american idiot(pretty easy) when i come around, holiday
blink-182: All the small things(awsome/easy) whats my age again?(ditto)

those songs are a surefire way to get the adiences atention, and here good, alternative rock/pop songs. Find the chords for them @...(or tabs)

For greenday= ultimate-guitar.com

for blink-182=fenderplayersclub.com, and e-chords.com(or e-chord, i dont remember) well good luck!

don't do anything that people consider a classic (stairway, bohemian etc.). if you mess it up, they'll hold it against you.

play some green day. its easy and teenagers seem to like it (i'm getting sooooo old hehe)

I don't endorse this... but if you want to impress kids just play some power ballads to stir their fragile little emotions.
I think the Bon Jovi-type route would be fairly safe...But you didn't hear it from me. :o

Well, I dunno, I happen to think most of that music rocks. However, if we're gonna suggest heavy, why not Gorguts, Exodus, Gwar, Death, Cryptopsy, Cannibal Corpse, Necrophagus, Exhorder, or, ya know, anyone who's actually, you know, HARD.
