Electric or acoustic or electric acoustic
Looking for my first guitar which one do I need, I like lifehouse, staind, creed, alterbridge, theory of a dead man, What guitar do they use I know some songs say acoustic version and I do like those

It is better to learn on an acoustic guitar because it strengthens your fingers more than an electric guitar. If you learn on an acoustic it will be an easy transition to go to an electric. The other way around is harder.

its better to learn on a acoustic :)
Later in the evening
As you lie awake in bed
With the echoes from the amplifiers
Ringing in your head
You smoke the day's last cigarette
Rememb'rin' what she said

ok, would I be able to play acoustic songs on an electric guitar and it sound good? Like lifehouse "you and me" or do you have to use acoustic. I would like to try electric first if I could play these songs on it and just stick with it, what do you think

you CAN play acoustic songs on electrics.. but it just doesnt have the same sound.

Get an acoustic first. You'll thank everyone who said it if you stick with guitar.

sure, getting an acoustic probably is better in the long run. however, if you aren't having fun, you'll soon give up. I'd say go for the electric. you just use the clean channel and you can play acoustic stuff with it. plus the electric is going to be alot more versatile to play whatever you want to.

I say get both. Have your cake and eat it too.
I am a constant evolving music machine. Oh Man, I just forgot what I was playing. Oh well, on to the next song.

not everyone can afford that...
but hey, if you can, then that's the way to go!

But if you play electric first, your fingers will not become as strong as they could be.

hey, I've been playing for like a year and a half, and I STILL don't own an acoustic. and yet I was able to play a bass guitar tonight... they just won't become as strong as fast! plus, it hurts less when building callouses in the beginning

6strings has a point, but if you really are commited to guitar, do acoustic first. Also there are the electric/acoustic, like the stratocustic, but i havnt looked into those alot...

was that a "c'mon, fess up, you've played for longer.." or a "you've played for a year and a half, c'mon, it's about time you got an acoustic"
if it's the first one, then no, I started playing in august of '04, my parents paid for half of my guitar/amp/accessories/etc. as a birthday present.
if it's the second.. then I'll tell you I plan on getting an acoustic very soon, I've wanted one for a while, but I couldn't afford one until I got a job.

Statistical wise, acoustic guitar will discourage from playing cause its not as instant gratification as electric.
To the bigginer its also boring and looked upon as a chore.
Get an electric dude, you have a blast, and maybe someday but and acoustic.
