Hey guys,

Ive been having trouble with either my cable shorting out or there is a bad connection right where the cable plugs into guitar. Ive got a Squier Strat and the the actual bolt on the jack where the cable plugs in is loose. Is this the problem, and how should I tighten it? Ive tried just tightening it with my fingers but it keeps coming loose.

Thanks

I had the same problem. Tighten it, if it still cuts in and out, you'll have to take a trip to radio shack, pick up a new one, and solder it in.

Should I remove that whole piece down there and make sure its real tight, or should i just finger tighten it the best I can?

Thanks for the response.

Yep. unscrew those 2 little guys and easily pull it out. Make sure you don't acidentily knock of a wire in the process. Also, make sure the clip on the input stays in the same direction when tightening, and do not bend it. A little tephlon tape before you tighten the nut to ensure a tight fit fit that won't re-loosen.

Nobody actually answered this guys question. Take a socket and turn it clockwise until it gets tight, then give it another little twist to lock it right in.

Yes I did. He asked wether to finger tighten it or take the whole input plate out to tighten it. I said to take it out and tighten it. Its better that way than to leave it in since it will spin on the inside messing up the wires and input clip.
