i know four track is kinda oldskool but thats all i can afford...im just wondering why do i get feed back when i try to layer guitars. its definatly not the distrtion becuase i record clean stuff also and it still does it

aslo the volume goes up much higher than usual when im actually recording something. and this disables me to hear the track im recording over.

any tips?

You might need to mess around with the input volumes.Do you have a booklet with it?

Also, are you using the correct tape(high bias)?

do you have speakers connected to the tascam ? If so make sure they are not picking up the mic. You might also want to try turnign your amp and input gain down.

Hope this helps
