I'm seeing a growing trend of music snobism, maybe i'm just getting to that age when people are deciding to impose their views on others or something (i'm 17 by the way).

I personally hate it when somebody says "That's not real music, this is ..." - whether it be in retalliation to Rock, Metal, Rap, Techno or whatever. How can you define music with such a narrow concept. Clapping your hands is music. And how can you say there's good music and bad music? The beauty of music is that it all makes us feel different things, and we all have our own individual experiences with it. The only perhaps judgement that u can EVER make on music - is whether it is becoming too commercialised and loosing its heart. But even purely commercial music may mean something to someone. Britney Spears might be the world to a 12year old girl - does that make her pathetic and have no taste. I mean personally i dislike Britney Spears - but instead of trying to force the world to have my opinion (which most of it does anyway :)) i simply choose not to listen to her.

Think about the way music makes others feel instead of just what you feel. RAP has taken me through many dark times of my life - simply because it is full of wit and energy (well at least it was, don't know about now). The Offspring were the first band i ever liked and i continue to be a massive fan of them today - not because they are particularly impressive on the technical side - but because their songs make me feel high, and offspring albums are cheaper then hippy crack and weed. I enjoy System of a Down because of all the raw energy they put into it inspires me to put more raw energy into my own life. And so on. I don't feel inspired by bands like Metalicca or Black Sabbath - but i'm sure many of you do - and it's not up to me to judge whether you have the right to or not - everyone has the right to enjoy whatever music they wish...

THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS MUSICAL TASTE.

Sometimes a hamburger (a simple, and non technical band) can taste just as good as a crazy 10 course meal at a $100 p.p. restaurant. With that said i think some hamburgers, namely the ones made at Fast food joints (ie the bands that are very commercial) are whipping out too many hamburgers and not puting the care and effort into it as they used to - they just want the money.

Well there's my analogy, sorry for the HUGE post.
