I've done a couple of rather half-hearted attempts to play the guitar but always in the standard, or right-handed position. I haven't had much luck because I simply lack the coordination to pick very well with my right hand.

I just joined so my search was rather cursory, but I didn't notice anything for lefties? Does this site have any lessons for lefties? If not, is it something us lefties can hope for in the future?

Thanks.

What do you mean by lessons for lefties? Playing the guitar left handed is the same as playing any other way, technique wise. All your changing is what hands you pick and fret with.

Oh yeah...STICK IT TO THE MAN!

My brother's left handed and he has told me that when he first started he struggled to grasp reading tabs etc. But then someone pointed out to him that, as long as you understand which strings are EADGBe on your guitar, it is just a matter of putting your fingers on the correct place on the fretboard.

The lessons here (and anywhere else for that matter) apply to both right and left handed players, (as stated before); just read the tabs in terms of strings and frets and you shouldn't have a problem.

Hope that's of some use.
Don't worry too much about me, ignore me long enough and I'll go away.

Tabs are not made for left or right hands.

They only show your finger postion on the frets, which is the same for either hand.

Actually, the way tabs are written they are much easier to translate to the fretboard for righties than for lefties.

It might take a little more effort to get the hang of it, but all it takes it practise.

I`ve had a couple left-handed students.
So I tell you what I told them "Play what feels right for you"
If you feel comfortable playing right handed then do it.
If you feel comfortable playing left-handed, don`t let anybody tell you otherwise.
I saw a book for left-handed players in my local guitar shop, it has chord diagrams and pictured chords.
I have to say that one of the best students I ever had, was my left-handed student.
So, keep up the good work.
Someday I`ll play like in my dreams.
